Ting Chaong Wen is skilled in dealing with mixed media, such as space installations which mixed with images and sounds. In recent years, he tries to concern the multiple perceptions and its mediation according to plasticity and extensibility of the contemporary experimental installations through site specific arts and features.observation the synesthesia relationship between the face of the work involved in emotional substance and history, this development belongs to the individual context and eradialectical differences in the microscopic experience, he was concerned about the proposition simple resistance on the operation of the memory consciousness into the system life.

Sapporo 2 is a project under the philosophy that individual creativity has an impact that would bring changes to the society, and, we give credence to Ting Chaong Wen's great talent as an artist as well as his social motives with his artistic approach where he considers historical and political aspects of the subject.
We are not looking for an artist who would merely consider 'snow as a material for an art work', but we believe and anticipate that Ting Chaong Wen would profoundly explore the ideas of 'what would snow mean in Sapporo' and 'the meaning of the actual event of snowing in Sapporo' giving objective insight and questioning into the state of Sapporo from an outsider's fresh point of view considering the approach he has in his art practice.

Sapporo 2_A.I.R._b0165697_13121340.jpg

By judging what Chen said in his application, 'As a curator who works within the entire contemporary art system, to enter the snow environment is to imagine the possibilities of artistic language which is less institutionalized', we could see that he understands the concept and purposes of Sapporo 2, and he has a lot of potential in suggesting new approaches and potential programmes, which would be a step forward for Sapporo 2 during such a short 30 day period of residency.
Chen has never participated in a residency programme, so we anticipate that this will be a good opportunity for him to interact with the next generation of local artists in Sapporo through mutual perception of their generation.
